Irish Wetland Bird Survey Workshop - Dungarvan
We are looking for people to help out with monitoring waterbirds for the Irish Wetland Bird Survey in the Waterford and East Cork Area.
What’s involved in the survey?
I-WeBS counters record waterbirds at wetland sites across the country during the winter ‘non-breeding’ season (September to March). The type of wetlands surveyed range from wet grasslands to large complex estuaries that hold thousands of birds, and everything in between. Hundreds of volunteers take part in the survey every winter, along with National Parks and Wildlife Service and BirdWatch Ireland staff.
We are looking for new skilled observers to join the Dungarvan survey team and to help cover important wetland sites in East Cork. If you are interested in finding out more about the survey, why not come along to our workshop? Here we will discuss the background, methods, and some tips for surveying waterbirds, followed by a demonstration of the field methods. The workshop will take place on Sunday 25th October (Lawlors Hotel Dungravan). Fill in the form below to register your attendance. Lunch and refreshments will be provided free of charge.
In the event we are oversubscribed, priority will be given to those with higher levels of experience. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience
