2027 Women’s Championship Rules

1. Eligibility. This USBC-certified tournament is governed by USBC and Greater Pittsburgh USBC (GPUSBC) rules. Entrants must be eligible adult women USBC members. Co-association fees are waived for this tournament. No more than one member of a professional bowling organization may compete on a Doubles team, subject to applicable USBC rules.
2. Events. The Women’s Championship offers Doubles and Singles only. Both events have Handicap and Scratch divisions; bowlers are entered in both.
3. Handicap. Handicap is 90% of the difference between the entering average and a 220-per-bowler base, calculated on a three-game series: 660 for Singles and 1,320 for Doubles.
4. Averages. Use the highest previous winter USBC league average of at least 21 games; otherwise the highest previous summer average of at least 21 games; otherwise the highest current average of at least 21 games as of February 28, 2027; otherwise the highest current average of at least 12 games as of that date. Without a qualifying average, bowl scratch (220). If the current average is 10 or more pins higher than the entering average, the current average must be used, subject to applicable USBC rules. Bowlers are responsible for accurate averages and applicable average adjustments and prize-winnings reporting.
5. Entry fees and entry. Entry is $30 per bowler per event ($17 prize fund, $10 lineage, $3 expenses): $60 per Doubles pair and $30 per Singles entry. All prize fees are returned. Walk-ins and re-entries are accepted subject to lane availability. Payment may be made by mailed check or available online PayPal/Venmo options. Checks payable to Greater Pittsburgh USBC; returned checks incur a $40 fee. Refunds and squad changes require Tournament Director approval and are considered case by case.
6. Multiple entry. Multiple entries are permitted. A bowler may cash only once in Singles and may not cash more than once with the same Doubles partner. First scores in each event count toward applicable All-Events standings. A bowler may bowl only one Doubles set per squad.
7. Substitutions. Substitutes must meet all eligibility and average requirements. Notify tournament management of substitutions at least one hour before the scheduled squad.
8. Prizes and awards. Prize money is paid at a minimum ratio of one prize for every six entries in each event. Prize allocation is 75% Handicap and 25% Scratch. Prize fees are returned 100%. Ties and awards are handled under applicable USBC tournament rules.
9. Conduct and dress code. Appropriate bowling attire and good sportsmanship are required. Clothing displaying offensive language or images is prohibited. Tournament management may remove or disqualify entrants for intoxication, abusive or disruptive conduct, or interference with competition.
10. Other. Tournament management assigns lanes. No practice on assigned tournament lanes before the scheduled competition except authorized practice. Decisions and protests are handled under applicable USBC rules, including Rule 329. Failure to comply may result in disqualification. Applicable tax reporting requirements apply to prize winnings.

All-Events: Only six-game Handicap and six-game Scratch are offered. Each division is $5 per bowler. No nine-game or Senior divisions.
