Movement, Mindset & Confidence on the Sharp End
Instructor: AMGA Guide Lindsay Fixmer
Taking the sharp end of the rope requires more than knowing how to place an ice screw. It takes efficient movement, body control, sound judgment, and the confidence to trust your abilities.
Designed for women who are comfortable climbing ice and ready to explore the next step, this clinic combines the physical, technical, and mental skills needed to become a confident and capable ice leader.
Participants will focus on refining movement, improving footwork and body positioning, maintaining balance on steep terrain, and learning how to climb efficiently while conserving energy. The clinic will also cover ice protection, screw placement, route assessment, and the fundamentals of leading safely.
Equally important, we'll explore the mental side of leading: managing fear, staying composed under pressure, recognizing your limits, and developing the confidence to make smart decisions when it matters most.
Through personalized coaching, controlled exercises, and mock-leading scenarios, participants will build a stronger foundation for eventually taking the sharp end.
Because confident leading isn't about being fearless or simply climbing harder. It's about moving with control, trusting your skills, and knowing when to commit and when to back off.
