TEXAS PROPERTY GUIDE
Community property generally includes property acquired during marriage, including earnings and assets purchased with those earnings, regardless of whose name is on title. Separate property generally includes property owned before marriage, individually inherited or gifted, or traceably purchased with separate funds. Certain personal-injury recoveries are separate, but recovery for loss of earning capacity during marriage may be community. Mixed funds, refinancings, title changes, and reimbursements require attorney review. No balances or account numbers are requested.
