What is SMCSU?

The St. Michael's College Student Union (SMCSU) is the official student union for undergraduate students at St. Michael's College. We plan events and programming throughout the school year, and advocate for the needs of our students.

What are the SMCSU Committees?

A committee is a group of individuals who works with a SMCSU Councillor to plan and execute events as well as support portfolio projects. Serving on a committee is an excellent opportunity to work and grow with student leaders, gain experience in event planning, meet new people and be a part of the SMCSU community. Those interested in running for council in future years are strongly encouraged to apply for a committee to learn more about SMCSU.

Details of Being a Committee Member:

The committee term will be October 2026 - April 2027, with committees completing onboaring + preliminary tasks/meetings in November. Most committees involve 1-2 hours/week of work on average, with additional time dedicated to event planning closer to the date of events (if applicable).

Some portfolios will be hiring specific committee members to serve a specific role (which are stated in the document below). If you are applying to one of these portfolios, please answer the questions in relation to your role of choice. All other portfolios will be hiring committee members to have general responsibilities, and roles will be delegated as needed (such as for duties involved in a respective event).

Upon successful completion of each term (as determined by the VP of each portfolio), each committee member will be eligible for Co-Curricular Record (CCR) credit.

Application Dates:
To apply, please complete this form by Thursday, October 29th at 11:59pm. No late applications will be accepted.
Interviews will occur between Friday October 30th - Friday November 7th. Invitations for an interview may be emailed to you during or before these dates.

We will do our best to provide an interview with the councillor responsible for your 1st choice committee, but due to high interest we may have offer you an interview for another committee.
