Important Travel & Safety Information: Grant Bay is a remote coastal area with no cell phone reception. Reaching the trailhead requires driving on unpaved, active industrial logging roads—a high-clearance 4WD or AWD vehicle is required (standard passenger cars are not suitable). Participants must be self-sufficient and come prepared for late-November coastal weather with full waterproof rain gear, sturdy waterproof boots, work gloves, personal food/water, and an offline map. By registering, you acknowledge the remote nature of this event and accept responsibility for your travel preparations.
About the Rebate: We offer a rebate of up to $200 per room to help cover your accommodation costs in Vancouver Island North. The rebate may only be used towards the cost of accommodations, and if your accommodations cost less than $200, you will only be reimbursed up to the total cost of your booking.
Booking Details: To qualify, please book directly with an accommodation property listed on the Vancouver Island North Tourism website in the 'Stay' section. Your booking must be for a minimum of two nights and align with your selected volunteer project dates. Do not book with third-party sites like Expedia or Airbnb. If your chosen accommodation only offers booking through a third party, please reach out to us at info@vancouverislandnorth.ca before booking.
Room Sharing: We can only offer one rebate per room. If you are sharing a room with another volunteer, please note that only one person can claim the rebate.
Eligibility: To receive the rebate, you must be eligible to work in Canada, hold a Canadian bank account, and not be a permanent resident of the Vancouver Island North region.
The Deadline: To secure your spot, you must send us your accommodation booking confirmation within 72 hours of submitting this form. If we don’t receive it by then, we will need to offer your spot to another volunteer.
Receiving Your Rebate: We’ll send your rebate via e-transfer about 4 weeks after the event, once you’ve completed your volunteer shift and our post-visit survey.
Waivers & Media: By registering, you agree to sign the necessary liability waivers provided by our non-profit partners for your specific project. You also grant us permission to use any photos or videos taken during the event for future program promotion.
