Welcome to auditions for Spring Awakening with Spotlight Productions! Thank you for your interest in being part of this production. Spring Awakening is a coming-of-age musical that explores adolescence, identity, sexuality, mental health, family expectations, and the challenges of growing up. Due to the nature of the show's material, performers should be prepared to engage thoughtfully and professionally with mature and emotionally intense themes. Please complete this form honestly and thoroughly. All casting submissions are due April 4, 2027. This is an educational summer stock where performers gain training and resume credit for ages 18-22.

Rehearsals will be June 14-18 in Norfolk, VA. Performances are June 18 at 8pm, and June 19 at 2 and 8 pm. Can you commit to attending the scheduled rehearsals and performances, subject to the availability information you have provided?

Spring Awakening is a rock musical that explores adolescence, identity, sexuality, relationships, family conflict, and the consequences of a society that fails to communicate openly with young people. The production contains mature and potentially triggering subject matter, including: Sexuality, sexual exploration, and sexual assault. Simulated intimacy, depending on the production's staging choices, and discussions of sexual behavior. Physical and emotional abuse, Religious shame, repression, and authoritarian parenting. Mental health struggles, depression, and suicide. Pregnancy, abortion, and reproductive health. Grief, death, and loss. These subjects are integral to the story and will be approached thoughtfully, respectfully, and with attention to the emotional well-being of the cast and creative team. Our goal is not to shock or exploit performers or audiences. We aim to tell the story with honesty, care, and an understanding of the historical and contemporary issues it raises.
