Small Floral Grant Scheme To Improve Your Local Environment

Armagh City. Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council would like to encourage communities to improve their local environment by planting flowers and shrubs.  Council is therefore inviting local constituted Community groups in the Borough to apply for a grant up to a maximum amount of £200.00 to purchase bedding plants and shrubs.

    • Council will purchase the bedding plants/shrubs on behalf of the Community group.
    • The Community group will arrange collection the plants/shrubs.
    • The Community group will then plant and tend the plants/shrubs.

Communities will be awarded a small grant by the Council based on evidence of real interest on the part of the Community concerned in making a practical contribution to the improvement of the local area.

Applications will not be considered from the following areas:

    • Villages or Towns who compete in the Ulster in Bloom Competition.
    • Private companies.
    • Grounds that are not open to the public 12 months of the year.
  • CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

Communities will only be entered where there is a demonstrated commitment and documentation provided along with a completed application form:

    • Must be a constituted Community group – constitution must be supplied with the application form.
    • The group must have insurance – this must be supplied with the application.
    • A plan of action, including maps of areas that are being planted and a list of who will be looking after these displays.
    • Council will not supply hanging baskets.
    • Council will not be responsible for any activities that the group/organisation carries out as part of the small floral grant scheme.
    • If the groups are going to plant on non-Council lands, permission must be sought from the landowner – this must be supplied with the application.

All Council entries will be treated with equity and with the best support, our resources permit.

The Council will allocate resources to entrants in the small grants scheme if the Community can show effort and commitment. A Working Group will assess this effort; all successful applicants must supply photos of the planting carried out.
