Emerging Artist Resources (EAR) is looking for a Community Intern to join our team!
This internship is a great opportunity for a current college student, recent graduate, or emerging artist interested in dance, arts administration, and the NYC performing arts community. It is especially well suited for a dancer or emerging artist who is currently based in New York (or hopes to move to NYC) and wants to gain a better understanding of the city's artistic landscape while building hands-on experience in arts administration.
Responsibilities
- Researching performances, auditions, classes, workshops, jobs, grants, residencies, and other opportunities for artists in NYC
- Assisting with the creation and maintenance of EAR’s Community Calendar
- Creating and supporting social media content
- Researching artists, organizations, venues, and opportunities throughout the NYC dance community
- Supporting community outreach and engagement
- Assisting with additional administrative and creative projects alongside EAR’s Executive Director
- Professional Development & Mentorship
We want this internship to be an opportunity to learn—not just a list of administrative tasks. Throughout the internship, you will gain exposure to the day-to-day operations of a growing arts organization and develop a deeper understanding of the NYC dance and performing arts landscape.
The intern will have opportunities to:
- Meet regularly with EAR’s Executive Director for mentorship and professional development
- Learn about arts administration, fiscal sponsorship, fundraising, artist services, marketing, and nonprofit operations
- Become familiar with NYC dance organizations, venues, funding opportunities, and resources available to emerging artists
- Gain insight into building a sustainable artistic career in New York City
- Participate in EAR meetings, events, or community initiatives when relevant
- Take ownership of a project based on their interests and EAR’s current programming
- Build tangible experience and projects that can be included on a résumé or portfolio
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Currently enrolled in college and able to receive academic credit for the internship
- An emerging artist or arts administrator
- Responsible, organized, communicative, and able to work independently
- Interested in dance, arts administration, and the NYC arts community
- Excited to learn and take initiative
- Interested in becoming more connected to the resources and opportunities available to emerging artist
Time Commitment:
Approximately 8–10 hours per week.
This is a remote position with flexible scheduling, with regular virtual check-ins with EAR’s Executive Director. We understand that artists are balancing classes, rehearsals, performances, and other responsibilities and will work with the intern to create a manageable schedule.
Interns who are interested may have the opportunity to continue with EAR past the time of internship.
Compensation / College Credit
This is currently an unpaid internship, with the opportunity to receive academic credit for eligible students.
Emerging Artist Resources (EAR) is happy to work with students and their colleges or universities to fulfill academic credit requirements. We will coordinate with the intern and their institution to complete any necessary documentation and support the academic credit approval process.
