Who We're Looking For
Bands and musical acts rooted in punk, alternative, and DIY culture are encouraged to apply to play the Scranton Holiday Punk Rock Flea Market.
We're bringing underground music and independent culture together for a holiday-season celebration that doesn't sound like anything you'd hear at the mall. We're looking for punk, hardcore, goth, post-punk, garage rock, metal, indie, and other alternative acts that bring personality, originality, and energy to the stage. Whether your sound is loud and abrasive, dark and atmospheric, melodic and offbeat, or somewhere in between, we want to hear it.
We’re Looking for Bands Who
- Embrace the DIY Mindset and Ethic. You write, record, book, promote, and build something of your own. Punk, hardcore, zine culture, and underground art built this event, and we’re looking for musicians who come from or sincerely respect those roots. Whether you’re playing your first shows or have been part of the scene for years, we care about your sound, your attitude, and what you bring to the community.
- Bring a Distinct Sound and a Strong Live Set. We want original music, personality, and a performance that makes people stop browsing and pay attention. A few thoughtfully chosen covers can be fun, especially for Halloween, but we want to hear what makes your band yours. Send recordings that represent your current sound and live footage if you have it. Professional production isn’t required, just a clear sense of what you do.
- Respect the Space, the Schedule, and Each Other. That means arriving on time for load-in and soundcheck, communicating your equipment needs, following set lengths and changeover times, and treating fellow bands, vendors, volunteers, and attendees with basic decency. Help keep performance areas and walkways clear, and work with the organizers to keep the day running smoothly. We are a community event first. No racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, or hate symbols onstage, on merchandise, or otherwise.
- Help Us Hear You and Find Your Work. Include working links to your music, social media, website, or live performances so we can get to know your band. Make sure your application includes your hometown, a short description of your sound, and a reliable contact. You don’t need a massive following to apply. Sharing the lineup, inviting your people, and supporting the other acts helps build a better show for everyone. We all win when we hype each other up.
