Description:
FIRST LEGO League (FLL) is a fun, extracurricular activity that helps students in grades 4 - 8 learn about engineering, technology, and teamwork by building and programming a LEGO SPIKE Prime robot to compete against other teams in the Bay area to accomplish certain tasks. The team will also learn to research a real-world problem area, select a specific problem to solve, devise an innovative solution to the problem, then present the solution. Previously RCS has only had an FLL team at the middle school, but this year we are bringing it to the elementary school because this is the last year ever for FLL tournaments.
The club is being sponsored by Analog Devices, an international semi-conductor company.
The programming environment will be based on the Scratch graphical language. This club does not assume any familiarity with programming or LEGO robotics.
As this is a team that will work together through a long season that will conclude with a one day weekend tournament sometime between February and April, we will be evaluating the students in the club and having two rounds of advancement to reach a team of 8 or fewer that are willing to learn and work together to achieve the team goals while also having fun.
RCS Middle Schoolers may ride the school bus shuttle for free as members of this after-school club.
