The first promise is the hardest one, because nobody is watching.

Show up. Rested or wrecked, I come as I am and say what my capacity is out loud.
Tell myself the truth before I tell anyone else. My shadow is mine to meet.
Do my own work. I can ask for help. I cannot ask someone to carry it.
Hold my own sovereignty. No teacher, peer, or practice knows better for me than I know for myself.
Rest without guilt and push without punishment.

To the Academy
The Academy is not a building or a board. It is the container. Every person who walks in is holding one corner of it.

Protect the space. No malicious intent, hidden agendas, gossip, or misuse of magick. Nothing racist, homophobic, sexist, or cruel. If I see it, I name it. If I do it, I own it.
Treat the staff as peers, never as employees. Teachers, board, and volunteers are walking beside me, most of them unpaid. I do not demand, I ask. I do not expect, I appreciate.
Honor the structure without worshipping it. No hierarchy, but there is a foundation.
Communicate in the open. Concerns go to the person, then to a mediator, never to the group chat.
Be a student and a teacher.
Keep it accessible. I honor my financial commitment and never make someone feel small for what they can or cannot pay.
Leave it better than I found it.
I understand that treating staff as employees, or making the space unsafe, can end my place in the Academy.

When I Drift
You will drift. Everyone does. The agreement is not that you never break it. The agreement is what you do next. If I break a promise to myself: read my intention, name what happened without a story, come back. If I break a promise to my cohort or the Academy: go to the person first, direct and kind. If it cannot be resolved, a board member mediates. If it still cannot be resolved, an in-person meeting with all parties and the board. Repair is always the first goal. Removal is the last.
