• Visit Cranes' Landing with Columbia Land Trust

Saturday, November 21st, 2026 at Frenchman's Bar Regional Park
  • Columbia Land Trust invites you to a morning of birdwatching and storytelling at Frenchman's Bar Regional Park near Vancouver. From a covered picnic area, we'll look for sandhill cranes and other birds as they fly overhead before landing in 527 acres of conserved land that are cared for by Columbia Land Trust. We call this property Cranes' Landing, and we look forward to introducing you to it!

See event details below and register to join us for this guided visit.

    Date: Saturday, November 21st 2026.

Time: 7:30am-8:30am. Crane flyovers are most visible at sunrise and sunset. Guests are welcome to arrive early and remain in the park after our gathering concludes.

Location and Parking: Meet at Frenchman's Bar Regional Park at 9612 NW Lower River Rd, Vancouver, WA 98660. Stay left after entering the park and find us gathered at the shelter at the very end of the parking lot. We will pre-pay parking for this event; you do not need to pay at the entrance kiosk.

What to Expect: This gathering involves standing in an outdoor area with access to a covered, ADA accessible picnic area at Frenchman's Bar Regional Park. There is a portable restroom on site as well as an indoor restroom. We will be stationary for most of our time as we share our presentation but will have the opportunity to walk around the park after our remarks. Please dress for cold, wintry weather and bring binoculars if you have them.

The Land Trust will provide some spotting scopes to share as well as hot beverages.

Please note that we cannot predict the activity of the cranes or guarantee their visibility, which varies based on the weather and their own foraging behavior. We will all cross our fingers for great flyovers, but we encourage you to come with an open mind for what the morning may bring us!
