INLAND IMMORTALS:
PARENT/GUARDIAN CODE OF CONDUCT
The following rules and expectations have been established by the Inland Immortals STRIDE Track & Field Team to promote a safe, respectful, organized, and positive environment for all athletes, coaches, officials, parents, and spectators.
All parents and guardians are expected to comply with team policies, applicable AAU and USATF regulations, and the rules established by host facilities and track meet organizers.
1. PRACTICE AND COMPETITION AREAS
During practices and track meets, parents, guardians, and unauthorized individuals are not permitted on the track, infield, throwing areas, jumping areas, or other designated athlete-only areas without authorization from the coaching staff or meet officials. Parents are not permitted to coach athletes from the sidelines or interfere with training sessions. PLEASE LEAVE THE COACHING TO THE COACHES. Parents should not approach coaches while they are actively conducting practices or supervising athletes during competition.
2. COMMUNICATION WITH COACHING STAFF
Parents and spectators are not permitted to interrupt practices or track meets to address concerns with the coaching staff. Non-emergency questions or concerns should be directed to the Head Coach or designated team administrator at an appropriate time. Conversations with coaches should take place after practices or competitions unless otherwise approved by the coaching staff. Immediate safety concerns should be reported promptly to the nearest coach or team official.
3. PARENT/GUARDIAN SUPERVISION
Parents or designated guardians are responsible for ensuring their athletes arrive on time, are properly prepared, and have appropriate supervision during practices and track meets. Parents or an authorized adult must remain present unless alternative arrangements have been approved by the coaching staff. Athletes must be picked up promptly at the conclusion of practices and competitions. Coaches are not responsible for supervising athletes outside designated team
activities.
4. PET POLICY
Pets are not permitted at practices, track facilities, or competition venues where prohibited by facility or event regulations. Service animals are permitted in accordance with applicable laws and facility policies.
5. FOOD, DRINKS, AND HYDRATION
Athletes are expected to bring sufficient water or sports drinks to all practices and competitions. Food, snacks, and other beverages must remain in designated areas and must not interfere with training or competition. Coaches will provide appropriate hydration breaks throughout practices. Parents should ensure athletes arrive properly hydrated and fueled for physical activity.
6. ATHLETE CHECK-IN AND CLERKING AREAS
Parents and spectators are not permitted inside designated athlete check-in, clerking, staging, or restricted competition areas unless authorized by meet officials. Athletes must follow the instructions of coaches and meet personnel regarding check-in procedures, event assignments, and reporting times. Parents are responsible for helping athletes arrive at the
competition venue on time.
7. SPECTATOR BOUNDARIES
All spectators must remain within designated viewing areas during practices and track meets. Parents and guardians are prohibited from crossing barriers, entering competition areas, or interfering with running, jumping, or throwing events. All facility boundaries and instructions provided by meet officials must be respected.
8. RESPECT FOR OFFICIALS, COACHES, AND ATHLETES
Harassment, intimidation, threats, physical altercations, or aggressive behavior toward meet officials, board members, coaches, volunteers, athletes, parents, or spectators will not be tolerated. Any individual engaging in such behavior may be immediately removed from the facility and may face additional disciplinary action, including suspension or removal from team activities.
9. MEDICAL PERSONNEL AND ATHLETE SAFETY
Parents, guardians, and spectators must not interfere with athletic trainers, emergency medical personnel, or designated medical staff while they are providing care to an athlete or other individual. All injuries, illnesses, or safety concerns must be promptly reported to the coaching staff. The health and safety of athletes will always take priority over competition.
10. SPORTSMANSHIP AND SOCIAL MEDIA CONDUCT
All parents, guardians, and spectators are expected to demonstrate positive sportsmanship and respect toward athletes, coaches, officials, competing teams, and other families. Derogatory comments, verbal abuse, bullying, threats, or inflammatory statements, including those made through social media, will not be tolerated. Parents and guardians are responsible for the conduct of family members and guests attending team activities.
11. PARENT VOLUNTEER RESPONSIBILITIES
Parents and guardians may be asked to assist with team activities, fundraising, equipment setup, athlete organization, event support, or other approved volunteer assignments. Volunteers must follow the instructions of team leadership and meet officials. Volunteers are prohibited from interfering with competition, coaching athletes without authorization, confronting officials, or engaging in conduct that disrupts team activities. Any volunteer assigned to supervise athletes
must comply with applicable team safeguarding and background screening requirements.
12. INJURY AND RETURN-TO-PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS
Any athlete who sustains an injury or experiences a medical condition that may affect safe participation must notify the coaching staff. Athletes who are removed from participation due to a suspected concussion must not return until they have completed applicable return-to-play requirements and received clearance from an authorized healthcare provider. For other injuries requiring medical evaluation, the team may require written medical clearance before an athlete returns to practices or competitions. No athlete will be permitted to participate when doing so presents an unreasonable risk to their health or safety.
13. PROHIBITED SUBSTANCES AND WEAPONS
ABSOLUTELY NO ALCOHOL, TOBACCO PRODUCTS, VAPING DEVICES, E-CIGARETTES, ILLEGAL DRUGS, OR UNAUTHORIZED WEAPONS are permitted at Inland Immortals STRIDE practices, track meets, team functions, or other team-sponsored activities, subject to applicable laws and facility policies.
