    Pour Demain

AI Policy Specialist, Switzerland (fixed-term, 12 months)

Bern, Zurich or Geneva · Start: January 2027 or as soon as possible · 80 to 100% · 12 months, with possibility of extension

In June 2027, Switzerland hosts the next international AI Summit in Geneva. We want this summit to move AI safety and international cooperation forward, with a particular focus on AI verification: the technical and institutional means to check that states and developers keep commitments on advanced AI. Switzerland's neutrality and diplomatic tradition make it well placed to play a constructive role here, during the summit and beyond. You will join our Swiss AI team and help shape Switzerland's international role in AI governance.

Early deadline: 1 November 2026 · Final deadline: 8 November 2026 (23:59 CET) · We review applications on a rolling basis, so early applications are encouraged.

    About Pour Demain

Pour Demain is an independent, non-profit think tank working towards a flourishing and resilient future. We develop concrete, evidence-based policy proposals on artificial intelligence and development cooperation, and connect science, politics and civil society to put them into practice. Our AI team works from Bern and Brussels on reducing systemic risks from frontier AI.

    What You Will Do

This is a generalist policy role with high ownership. Your exact focus will depend on your strengths and organisational needs, but you can expect to:

•Develop policy proposals on what Switzerland can do internationally on AI safety and verification, translating existing research into concrete, politically realistic asks.
•Engage with policymakers and experts on these proposals, in meetings, briefings and at events.
•Build relationships with Geneva-based organisations and the wider Swiss and international ecosystem working on diplomacy, security policy and AI.
•Own the planning and delivery of events around the summit, including at least one side event, from concept and partner outreach to logistics and follow-up.
•Support coordination of a coalition of civil society organisations working on AI verification ahead of the summit.
•Write short, sharp outputs: memos, briefs, one-pagers and occasional blog posts.

You will start by supporting our existing summit workplan and are expected to take ownership of your own workstreams early on. We work in a lean, agile way: everyone drives their projects end to end, and new ideas that promise more impact are welcome.

    What We Are Looking For

We value demonstrated ability and potential over years of experience or institutional prestige. You do not need to tick every box, but the must-haves matter.

    Must-have

•Solid knowledge of AI safety and a strong motivation to reduce risks from advanced AI
•At least 1 to 2 years of experience in policy, advocacy, diplomacy or a related field
•Based in Switzerland and eligible to work in Switzerland
•Excellent written English and the ability to turn complex topics into concise, persuasive outputs
•High autonomy and an 80/20 mindset: you take ownership, prioritise ruthlessly and deliver without close supervision

    Nice-to-have

•Knowledge of Swiss politics, the federal administration or International Geneva
•Working proficiency in German or French
•Familiarity with AI verification, international security and arms control
•Experience organising events or coordinating multi-stakeholder coalitions
•A network in Swiss academia, industry or the AI safety community
