• Interested in working on The Itch?

  • The Itch is growing, and we’re looking for a few good people to grow with us.

We’re an independent online literary magazine publishing fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry that won’t leave you alone.

We’re currently seeking volunteers for three editorial positions:

Poetry Editor: Read and evaluate poetry submissions, recommend work for publication, and help shape The Itch’s poetry offerings.

Contest Editor: Help coordinate our monthly Tiny Contest, evaluate submissions, organize shortlists, and keep the competition running smoothly.

Managing Editor: Help keep the whole operation organized. Think editorial calendars, publication schedules, contributor communication, deadlines, and the thousand little things that make a literary magazine work.

These are currently unpaid, volunteer positions.

We’re a small, growing publication, so flexibility, communication, reliability, and enthusiasm matter more to us than an impressive résumé.

We work collaboratively. All final publication and contest decisions currently rest with the Founder & Editor-in-Chief.

One important thing: We’re looking for people who are comfortable communicating beyond email. That may include occasional texts, voice notes, or phone calls, particularly for the Managing Editor position.

We don’t expect anyone to be available 24/7. We do want people who enjoy collaborating and communicating regularly.

If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
