Facilitated by Ada X in collaboration with VAV, this workshop introduces emerging artists to the role of artist-run centres and their importance in fostering artistic communities. Participants will learn how to navigate artist-run centres, engage with their programming, and explore opportunities for collaboration and mutual support within the arts.
The workshop will also explore critique as an essential part of artistic exchange and community building. Through a participatory group critique session, students will be invited to share works in progress, practice giving and receiving constructive feedback, and engage in meaningful dialogue with their peers. By combining practical knowledge of artist-run centres with collective artistic discussion, the workshop aims to encourage emerging artists to see themselves not only as individual practitioners, but as active contributors to a broader artistic community.
You are welcome to participate for either or both parts of the workshop. It is also not required but encouraged that you sign up to critique.
