This November we are heading to Springmaid Mountain in Spruce Pine, NC for a weekend of fishing! Springmaid is a secluded 400-acre retreat just off the Blue Ridge Parkway with more than half a mile of frontage on the North Toe River, plus five stocked ponds on the property.
We will be offering the Fishing merit badge on this trip, and possibly Fly Fishing as well (depending on adults and available gear). Whether you are working on a badge or just want to spend a weekend with a line in the water, there is something here for every skill level.
Fishing Information:
- The ponds are stocked with trout, catfish, bluegill and bass. No fishing license is required for pond fishing, and there is no charge for fish caught in the ponds since we are staying on the property.
- The North Toe River has excellent trout fishing. A North Carolina fishing license IS required for river fishing for anyone age 16 and older, including adults. Scouts under 16 do not need a license.
Please note: This is a late November trip in the mountains, so expect cold weather, especially overnight. Warm layers, a cold-weather sleeping bag and waterproof boots are a must. Details will be on the packing list.

Return: Sunday, November 22nd @ 11:30 am
COST: 40 per person - This covers gas, campsite fees and groceries.
