• Residency Application: Norient Forum 2027

Submit your CV, a 1-minute video, and up to three work samples by November 30, 2026.
  • Are you a writer, podcaster, photographer, filmmaker or other creator exploring today's world through music and sound? Then join us for the first Norient Forum, a new format by Norient, the Swiss platform for music, art, journalism and research.

We offer two three-week residencies in Bern, from 1 to 19 March 2027, in connection with the Forum. Find out more and apply below.

    What the Forum is About

Taking place from 11 to 13 March 2027, the first Norient Forum brings together international journalists, researchers and artists who explore new ways of telling stories about the world through music, sound and other forms of creative expression. From films and photo reportages to podcasts and multidisciplinary formats, their work engages multiple senses while making complex topics accessible without oversimplifying them.

Through workshops, presentations and conversations, the Forum explores how we can build meaningful connections across disciplines, generations and continents. How can we reach beyond our own circles? And how do we keep public conversation alive in a world increasingly shaped by algorithms, AI and political polarisation?

    What Your Role Will Be

During the residency, you will co-host the Forum and collaborate with the Norient team on a digital publication titled "Manuals for the Future". Based on practical experiences and conversations at the Forum, the publication will bring together guides and approaches for future cultural and journalistic practice, with publication planned for September 2027.

The residency runs from 1 to 19 March 2027. We will meet online beforehand, and after the Forum you will continue working with us remotely to complete the publication (around two additional working weeks).

  • What We Offer

    • CHF 2,000 fee for participation in the residency and follow-up work.
    • Travel and accommodation covered for the duration of the residency.
