  • Welcome to the free place application form for the Introduction to Causal Inference Course for Health and Social Scientists, taking place on 24-28 May 2027 at Horizon Leeds in Leeds, UK.

    About the free scheme

    We are offering up to four fully funded places on the 2027 course. Each place includes:

    • A full waiver of the course fee, which covers lunches, refreshments, the printed course booklet, access to post-course materials and the Thursday course dinner.
    • Up to £750 towards travel and accommodation, booked and paid for by us.

    The scheme is intended only for people who would otherwise have no means of funding their attendance. Places are awarded competitively, with priority given to applicants who will benefit most from attendance.

    Before you apply

    The scheme is designed for people who have no other means to pay to attend the course. If you, your employer, your institution or a funder can pay for your attendance, please consider this before applying for a free place and register for an ordinary place instead. Registering for an ordinary place makes you automatically ineligable for the free place bursary scheme.

    Accommodation and travel

    The scheme will cover necessary travel and accomodation expenses up to £750.

    If you are travelling from outside Leeds, we will book a room for you at a hotel within walking distance of the venue, with breakfast included. We will cover five nights accomodation, with check-in on Sunday 23rd May and check-out on Friday 28th May.

    We will book your travel to and from Leeds, using the remainder of the £750 after accommodation. If you need an extra night, for example because of international travel times, we will try to arrange it within the £750, but this may reduce the amount left for travel.

    If you live within reasonable distance of Leeds and prefer to commute rather than stay in the hotel, we can cover train fares instead of accommodation. We do not cover local travel costs (e.g. bus fares, fuel or parking). We are unable to cover costs above the allocated £750, and cannot pay out unused balance.
