Your Excellency,
Following the announcement by the Nobel Foundation that the Nobel Peace Prize 2010 was awarded to Liu Xiaobo, that since the 25th December 2009 is serving a 11-year sentence accused of "inciting subversion of state power", we once again call on Your Excellency for his immediate release, without conditions. According to Amnesty International, Liu Xiaobo is a prisoner of conscience, imprisoned solely for his work as a human rights activist, namely for having co-authored Charter 08.
We also urge Your Excellency to guarantee that while in custody Liu Xiaobo is not tortured or ill-treated and that he has full access to his family and lawyers.
