About the Rockettes Summer Intensive
If you’ve ever dreamed of dancing with the Rockettes, the Rockettes Summer Intensive is the program for you. Entering its twelfth season, the Rockettes Summer Intensive has produced more than 50 Rockettes.

The Rockettes reflect individual talent, hard work, athleticism, training, teamwork and dazzling synchronicity whenever they perform. Dancers participating in the program are introduced to these elements in the exact location that the Rockettes train every season – the iconic Radio City Music Hall.

As one of the best programs for aspiring Rockettes, the Summer Intensive offers a comprehensive summer training program led by current Rockettes as well as a Rockettes Director/Choreographer. This opportunity for dancers to connect with the professional dance world and study the world-famous Rockette precision dance technique is invaluable to the dedicated dancer.

The 2013 Rockettes Summer Intensive will be held at Radio City Music Hall on June 23 – 28 (Invitational Week), June 30 – July 5, July 7 – 12, July 14 – 19, July 21 – 26, July 28 – August 2, and August 4 – 9.

Program includes:

- One week of intensive study at Radio City Music Hall with the Rockettes and a Rockettes Director/Choreographer

- Six hours of class daily with emphasis on Rockettes jazz, tap, formations and kick line.

- Final Showcase performance plus one ticket to the Student Showcase (additional tickets may be purchased).

- Additional Rockettes features are being added this season, check back soon for full details.

Tuition is only $995 and includes all classes, seminars, final performance participation and one Showcase ticket.

Requirements : To be considered for the Rockette Summer Intensive, dancers must be 14 years of age (by June 22, 2013), have a minimum of 5 years continuous training in tap, jazz, and ballet and must attend a Rockette Summer Intensive audition or submit a video audition. The Audition Tour schedule as well as the Video Audition Guidelines are listed below.

Invitational Week (June 23–28)

The Rockettes Summer Intensive is pleased to continue a special invitation only week, designed to give select students the opportunity to train at the highest level of the Rockettes technique. Students will study each day with a Rockette Director and two Rockette Assistant Choreographers. An emphasis will be placed on preparing the dancer for the Rockettes audition and there will be a Showcase opportunity at the end of the week that will feature some of the current Rockette choreography as seen at recent live appearances and on television specials. All dancers must attend a live audition to be considered. Class size will be limited.

Merit Scholarships

There are 10 full tuition merit-based scholarships to the 2013 Rockettes Summer Intensive. To be considered for a scholarship, dancers must attend one of the live auditions for the Rockettes Summer Intensive.

Can't Make The Audition? It’s easy…just submit a video audition.

Video Auditions Requirements:

All videos must include the following:

·       Introduction: Please state your name, age and all material presented on the video tape, along with the Rockettes Summer Intensive weeks the dancer would be interested in taking. If you are an Alumna of the program please state that as well.

·       Jazz Combination: Present a short solo jazz combination, approximately 32 counts (no Hip-Hip please). Jazz combination must include a double pirouette.

·       Tap Combination: Present a short solo tap combination, approximately 32 counts. Combination must include a double time step.

·       Kicks: Present 8 eye-high jump kicks.

·       Video audition should show the applicant's highest level of dance ability and should be no more than 10 minutes in length.

Videos may be submitted via YouTube or DVD format. See requirements below:

·       YouTube – Upload your audition video to YouTube and email the link to rockettesummerintensive@msg.com. In your email also include: your full name address, phone number, email address, and an index of all materials presented.

·       DVD – All DVDs must be clearly marked with full name, address, phone number, email address and must include a printed index of all materials presented. Please send to: Rockettes Summer Intensive, Radio City Music Hall, 1260 Avenue of the Americas, New York, NY 10020. DVDs will not be returned.
