• Self Worth Quiz

  • Is Your Sense of Self Worth Affecting Your Level Of Success In Life?

  • A sound sense of personal self worth is a major requirement for emotional health.  With it comes a life of success and without it life can seem unfulfilled and lack purpose. If a person’s self image is that of being a worthwhile, useful, lovable, competent human being, he or she will be able to lead a happy and productive life and this will manifest in a feeling of success. If on the other hand a person feels worthless, unlovable and incompetent, life will be plagued with self-doubt, self-pity and interpersonal ineffectiveness.

Your self worth is how warm and loving you feel toward yourself based on a sense of worthiness and success.  A low score on the following evaluation is no reflection on you as a person; it is a reflection of how you perceive yourself.

It is important to be completely honest in your scoring if you are to obtain a valid starting reference.  It is also essential that you answer the statements according to how you actually feel or behave, rather than how you think you ‘should’ feel or behave.

  • Just as the body requires vitamins and minerals to be healthy, the personality in the same biological and organic way requires acknowledgment from oneself, and to a lesser degree from others, to achieve emotional health.  Emotional health, or the lack of it, is a major contributing factor to disease, family breakdown, learning disorders and performance.

A person with a well-developed sense of self worth does not need to depend on others for approval and can make self directed choices.  A person with a poorly developed sense of self worth is more inclined to go against their better judgement in seeking validation and approval.  They will also be more fearful of being hurt, often defending themselves with anger, hostility or other unproductive behaviours.  A person’s self concepts can act as a self-fulfilling prophecy.  A sound sense of self worth is both the producer and the product of effective and successful behaviour. Our first duty to society is to be somebody; that is, be ourselves. By Abbe Dimmet
