  • Do you currently have children between 5 - 8 years of age living in your home?*

  • Do you currently have children younger than 5 years of age? PLEASE NOTE: Unless you already have a greyhound, we do not adopt to families with children under five years old.*

  • Do you expect to frequently have young children in your home within the next three to five years? Either your own children, or young grandchildren, nieces, nephews, etc?*
  • Pre-Adoption Requirements

  • Before we can process your application and move to the interview and matching steps, we require all applicants to complete the following adoption prerequisites:

         1) Attend a GPA MN Meet & Greet event
         2) Read the required book(s)

We can still accept your application before you complete these pre-requisites, but we will need you to complete the reading and attend a Meet & Greet before we can move to the interview process.

  • Have you attended a GPA MN Meet & Greet?*
  • Have you completed the general required reading?*
  • Which book(s) have you read to prepare for your adoption?*

  • Information about your current pets

  • Do you currently have pets (other than fish or other aquarium dwellers)?*
  • Do you have a cat in your home?*
  • Do you need a hound that will be OK with small animals?*
  • How much time will the hound be spending in a home with a cat or other small animal?*
  • Because we have many applicants with cats living in their home, and because your hound will be spending 25% or less of their time in a home that has cats or small animals, we may not be able to accommodate your request for a cat trainable hound.

In most cases, even if a hound is not "Cat Trainable" they are still OK with most dogs, even small dogs.

Do you understand that GPA MN will try to accommodate your request, but we cannot guarantee availability of a cat trainable hound for your household?

Do you also understand that muzzling is always an option if/when the hound is around a cat or small animal?

  • Have you previously owned a dog other than your current pets?*
  • Have you ever returned a dog after adopting it?*

  • Do you agree to provide yearly vet exams for your hound?*
  • Do you agree to keep your hound up-to-date on vaccinations?*
  • Do you agree to administer heartworm and flea preventative as indicated?*

  • Have you applied or will you be applying to any other adoption groups? (current application, not past adoptions)*
  • At the time of the adoption we require an adoption fee to cover a portion of the costs we incur to ready a dog for adoption and to provide the accessories all adopters receive. These fees are outlined on our website. This is a non-refundable sum, and all applicable sales taxes (if any) are included. Veterinarians participating in our adoption program perform all veterinary services prior to adoption.
