• Jesus on Prayer - Day 11
Deliver us from Evil
  • Matthew 6:9

    Pray then like this:

    "Our Father in heaven,

    hallowed by your name.

    Your kingdom come

Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,

and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil."

  • What is the final request asking God to do?

  • Jesus on Prayer - Day 11
Deliver us from Evil
  • Read 1 Corinthians 10:13-14. How does this passage give you confidence that God will grant your request for deliverance?

  • 1 Corinthians 10:13-14 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.

  • Does God's promise of deliverance mean we can be passive? Why or why not?

  • What temptations are you currently struggling with?

  • What are the ways of escape that God has provided in your situation?

  • Spend a few minutes praying through the whole of the Lord’s Prayer. Remember to make it your own, using the six requests as the framework of your prayer.

  • In this meditation we have seen that Jesus calls us to pray for God's help in overcoming temptations. And the good news is that God promises to grant our request.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
