    • Fellows and Study Groups | Liaisons

The liaison program offers you a unique opportunity to interact with and get to know one of our Resident Fellows - all public figures with exceptional careers and experiences in politics and public service - in an intimate and personal setting. As a liaison, you will have the opportunity to work with a Fellow very closely: helping them run their study groups, joining them for intimate dinners, and enjoying small meetings with them and their guests. You will also have time to "chill" with your fellow: many liaison groups bring their Fellows to Harvard's museums and theatre events, or go out to dinner with them off-campus. Liaisons become close to the fellows over the course of the semester and build incredible relationships that often last long after college. Liaison teams of six help organize and direct a study group each week, which take place Monday through Thursday from 4 to 5:30pm. Once paired with a fellow, students are expected to attend all study groups.
    • Note: Students can serve as liaisons a total of two times and may not be a liaison while serving on the Leadership Team.

    • Fellows and Study Groups | Leadership team

    • Outreach Coordinators (TWO OPEN POSITIONS) - work closely with student liaisons to help with targeted outreach to potential study group attendees online, in the IOP, and in campus organizations. This post is an amalgamation of four roles we've had in the past: IOP Outreach, Campus Outreach, E-Outreach, and Student Group coordinator. This will be the most hands-on position on the leadership team, as outreach coordinators will be required to mentor new liaisons and check in with groups to ensure that study group outreach and attendance are going well.

Fellows Selection Committee Chair - **MUST have some experience on the fellows selection committee** Organizes the Fellows Selection Committee, the student voice on fellows selection. He or she routes information received from the IOP Fellows and Study Groups Coordinator, Eric Anderson, to the members of her or his committee, helps determine which candidates to interview, and delegates the responsibility of interviewing them to the various members of the committee. The Fellows Selection chair eventually communicates the committee’s deliberations to the FSG coordinator. This is quite a large time commitment, as the selection chair is required to attend every interview with potential fellows. Please consider this when you apply - we may include a phone interview.

Visiting Fellows Coordinator - organizes and broadcasts publicity and application materials for recruitment to Visiting Fellows’ liaison groups and general attendance. They will brainstorm ideas and put together events with student groups. They also work with the liaisons during the Visiting Fellow’s week to help look after and ‘staff’ the Visiting Fellow

Historian - works with the journals liaisons to help compile the journals for the fellows. They request regular submissions from the journals liaisons to ensure that everyone is on top of their work. Historians should have design or publishing experience, preferably, as they will compile journals into a record of each fellows' study group, to give as a gift at the end of the semester.

Social Chair – We’re going to put a lot of emphasis this semester on the social aspects of our program, and we’ve created this leadership position to help with that. We have a budget that will allow you to plan at least one social event per week, including parties, outings to Boston, and a lot in between.

    • Subcommittee Preferences: While each Forum Committee member has general responsibilities, specific tasks are completed in subcommittees. There are three subcommittees: Media, Event Support and Outreach. Media will be responsible for all publicity including maintaining the Facebook page and the Twitter account, distributing posters around campus, and producing weekly and monthly video content highlighting Forums. Event Support will prepare questions for the moderator prior to each Forum. At events, Support will be responsible for making the pre-event announcements and asking one official question from the committee. Following events, Support will draft event summaries for the Forum website, official and personal thank you letters and post-event discussions. Outreach will be responsible for forging ties with student groups and faculty members. These ties should lead to formal event proposals, and co-sponsoring events with other student organizations. Outreach will also be responsible for reaching out to journalists for select events, and for extending the Forum's reach into the greater Boston community. Every Forum committee member is expected to attend his or her subcommittee's weekly dinner meeting. No more than two excused absences will be permitted per semester.
