GRAB YOUR READER BY THE THROAT AND DON’T LET GO. For today’s young reader, and today’s publishing industry, it’s essential to seize attention from the first sentence of the first page. Without, your story will not get a glance. Inexperienced writers too often see this as an effect achieved by superficial editing, rather than a sustained, organic story-telling stance. The result if too often early promise swiftly dissipated and curiosity dulled as the reader turns the pages. Nothing is more disappointing, and readers – of all kinds – will just put the story down, unfinished. This workshop explores the components of storytelling to suck your reader into your story’s world and keep them turning the pages.

Once you register you will be send an email with all the course details and payment instructions. Please note that in order to register for this retreat you need to pay a 50% (SCBWI 120,00 €, IO/Others 130,00 €, non members 140,00 €) deposit upfront within 14 days after sending in the registration form. The other 50% (SCBWI 120 €, IO/Illustria 130€, non members 140€) are due 15. April 2014. In case you do not place the deposit or the final payment your registration will be cancelled. In case you cancel your registration after the 30th April 2014 the fee will not be refundable. Registration ends 30th April 2014.
