What were the best parts of the residency?

How did you feel the residency went? Did you feel welcomed and included? Were any additional or special needs you had met?

For perspective: In the London residency we spent 20 hours on Anthologies Assembly (AA) presentations, 8 hours supporting them and 22 hours on workshops and excursions, a total of 10 hours of programming a day. The following questions will help us refine the July residency 2026.

Did you attend nearly all AA sessions? Workshops? Excursions? If so, did you find ten hours of programming a day to be just right or too much?

Or rather, did you opt to explore London independently and just a few TT sessions of particular interest?

Thanks to Geoff Cox and Elena Marcheveska, LJMU hosted TT for a week in London. They worked with us over several months to make it possible on many levels. They contributed significantly to the programming and introduced us to all the institutions we interacted with. They attended our sessions and provided a great deal of valuable input to individuals and TT, before, during, and after. LSBU students and alumni also contributed. Were the workshops, presentations and visits useful and interesting? Did you find them relevant, either generally or in relation to suggesting potential future developments in your own praxis? What proportion of your time was spent supporting colleagues' research you felt was important to mutually offer but unrelated to your own research interests? *

AA presentations: Moving forward, in order to eliminate stress and last minute confusion, we will strive to adhere to deadlines. Given everyone's workloads and last minute ideas, what suggestions do you have?

Intensive programming for 2025-26 will be focussed on supporting you as advanced researchers. We are making space for monthly community support sessions including accountability, writing together, discussions related to sustaining momentum, strategies for reduce feelings if isolation between residencies, etc. Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions?

Recognizing the time constraints you face, based on attendance at workshops and residencies, content will be adjusted and required readings eliminated to make more time for your thesis and specific thesis-related, practical sessions to help you push through. What areas would you like specific research sessions to focus on? What areas are in your trajectory feel less clear? What are you grappling with and what might help?

In terms of other residencies, we will focus on bringing you together with researchers in other universities, with time to work and converse with a minimum of additional content. We will organize and participate in collaborations to offer more opportunities to dedicate time to your thesis projects. Do you have suggestions for new residencies to partner with? Would you like support or lead the forming student-led residencies? How can we help?
