Team Requirements
Choreography Camp
- We will have mandatory Choreography Camp August 25-28. Times will be announced with placements.
Enrollment
- Competition students must be enrolled in TLC, ballet, and technique classes in the genres in which they compete
- For example, a student competing in group dances in hip hop and lyrical would have a weekly schedule of TLC, ballet, hip hop, lyrical, and competition rehearsals (at minimum)
- Students must compete in at least one group routine to be eligible to compete a solo, duo, or trio
- Each group routine will have a 30-minute weeknight rehearsal (Tuesday or Wednesday)
- In January, we will begin having longer Saturday rehearsals as well
Conduct
Our competition team is comprised of our most driven students. They serve as role models for the other students and are expected to behave as such. Team members are expected to:
- Follow the attendance policy outlined below
- Be in dress code for all classes (including hair, shoes, and jewelry)
- Work outside of classes to improve strength and flexibility, practice and gain new skills, and learn and retain choreography
- This may include obtaining private lessons if needed
- Be respectful, courteous, and kind to teachers and other students
- Encourage classmates and teammates in the spirit of Dance Is For Everyone
- Failure to meet these standards may result in dismissal from the team
Attendance
Attendance is imperative at this level. A dancer missing class not only affects them, but all other students in the class. Dance is a team sport and we rely on each other for spacing, timing, and emotional execution - not to mention partner skills and lifts.
- No more than six (6) absent days per dance season may be missed
- Of the six (6) days, no more than three (3) may be missed from their team class/rehearsal
- Three (3) tardies of 5 minutes or more will be considered one (1) absence
- Dancers are responsible for learning what they missed on their own time
- Any team member with poor attendance will be dismissed from the team
Recital
- All competition routines will perform in the 2026 recital and will be themed as such
- All team members, regardless of which team they are on, will also be required to be in a group production number for the 2026 recital. We will begin rehearsals for this number in March
Solos, Duets, and Trios
Solos/duos/trios are a wonderful way to get one-on-one instruction and judges feedback, further your dance training, and push yourself to be the best dancer that you can be. We highly encourage any student who is interested to take on the challenge of competing a solo, duet, or trio.
- Our staff will decide the genre of solos, duets, and trios
- Our staff will assign choreographers for solos, duets, and trios
- Students selected for a solo, duet, or trio will receive a list of 3-5 songs to choose from that our staff believes would be a good fit for the student(s)
- Students selected for a solo, duet, or trio may select their own costume with approval from the choreographer
Tuition
- Group competition rehearsals are considered one class for monthly tuition purposes, regardless of how many group dances a dancer is in
- Solos, duets, and trios will be subject to extra rehearsal fees at our private lesson rates as follows. Private lesson rates are per lesson, not monthly. These prices are per student.
- Solos - $30/half hour or $50/hour
- Duets - $25/half hour or $40/hour
- Trios - $20/half hour or $30/hour
