CHILD DEDICATION BIBLE STUDY
Key Verses: 1 Samuel 1:1-28 Hannah prays to the Lord for a child and God blesses her with Samuel. She realizes the child is a gift from God and dedicates the child unto the Lord. Luke 2:20-40 Joseph and Mary went up to Jerusalem to present Jesus to the Lord. They presented Jesus as a gift unto the Lord. The cross reference in the Old Testament is Exodus 13:2. Please read both these passages of scripture. Key thoughts: • The parents realized children were gifts from God. • They acknowledged God’s lordship over the child by dedication. • They received the child back from the Lord with the understanding of their responsibility to nurture and train the child up in the ways of the Lord. (Ephesians 6:4; Proverbs 22:6)
