  • EARMA Fellowship Programme

  • The EARMA Fellowship Program is intended to reduce barriers to international research administration and create an administrative environment conducive to international collaboration and promote mutual learning across the European and International network of research managers and administrators. The EARMA Board has agreed to provide support for travelling fellows and is, currently, reviewing the level of support it provided in the past with a view to making the support more relevant to the actual costs. It is expected that the Fellow’s employing organisation will facilitate the Fellow’s travelling and accommodation.

    EARMA Fellowship applications are open year round. All final payments are made on the basis of a completed, publishable report submitted to EARMA.

    The EARMA Fellowship Programme supports short term exchanges between Research Offices both internationally and within Europe. There are two kinds of Fellowship;

    1. The existing EARMA International Fellowships (EIF) to encourage EARMA members to undertake short working visits to research offices in other countries particularly those who are members of our International partners. The program will provide an opportunity for international research administrators to travel to research organizations abroad and immerse themselves in a program of mutual learning and knowledge exchange. Fellows would be expected to pass on their experiences and knowledge of how research administration management operates at their institution, identify best practices and local knowledge of the host institution, and also to respect all organisational rules and cultural practices.
    2. The EARMA Intra-European Fellowship (EIEF). This programme will support short term visits by EARMA members to other EARMA hosts in Europe. Ideally, these fellowships will work in support of an agreed mentoring plan and should allow mentor and mentored to travel. The Board will support this programme on receipt of a final report. At the moment the Board is working up a proposal for a mentoring framework in which these fellowships can be used.
