Eligibility

This scholarship opportunity is available to students of Acadiana High School accepted to enroll for the Fall 2025 semester at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette's Department of Education.

Scholarship Process

All eligible students interested in applying for the Barbara M. Brown Memorial Scholarship must complete the electronic application below. PAPER APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

Each applicant will also be required to complete all components of the application and submit:

-a letter of recommendation from an Acadiana High School teacher that must be printed on school letterhead and signed by the teacher

-an Acadiana High School transcript including grades from your freshman year through the 4th six weeks of school your senoir year

-a letter of acceptance from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette

-an essay/personal statement that describes experiences or attributes that uniquely qualify you to receive this scholarship award

Incomplete applications cannot be submitted through the electronic process. Electronic submission of the application must be completed by Friday, February 28th.

All applications will be reviewed by a committee of volunteers. All applicants will be notified of their application status and are strongly encouraged to attend Senior Honors Night the week before graduation.

Scholarships are awarded on an annual basis and are for tuition and school related expenses only. In order to best mitigate a taxable income event for the student, and to lessen educational expenses, scholarship checks are made co-payable to the student and the school.
