  • Terms and Conditions of Contest Entry

    1. Who can enter?: This Contest is open to all visitors of TheOneRing.net.  Entrants must be 13 or older on Tuesday 8th April to enter, and 16 or younger on Tuesday 8th April to enter the youth category. Any artistic medium may be used, with the proviso that the version of Smaug - two dimensional or three dimensional - must be original and created by hand.
    2. Method of Entry: To enter the contest, use the form above. Limit one entry per unique user or email address; maximum two entries per household. Winning entrants must respond within 24 hours to our email notification or prizes will be offered to another winner. Entries must be received by 11.59pm UTC Tuesday 8th April to be eligible.
    3. Winners: Winners will be chosen based on the description of the contest, by a panel of judges made up of staff from TheOneRing.net. Judges will pick their favourite entries, considering factors such as design, originality, composition and flair!  Judges' decision is final.
    4. Prize(s): Prizes vary based on the promotion. Please refer to the specific post on TheOneRing.net for prize details.
    5. TheOneRing.net ('Sponsor') is not responsible for technical issues which may prevent an entrant’s ability to participate in this Contest, or by any human error which may occur in the processing of entries in this Contest or for typographical or other errors in the handling of the Contest materials, administration of the Contest or the announcement of the prizes. The Sponsor reserves the right to cancel or modify the Contest if there is any suspected or actual evidence of fraud which may destroy the integrity of the Contest as determined by the Sponsor, in its sole discretion or for any other reason. Any fraudulent entry or entry that contains misinformation is null and void. All decisions of the Sponsor related to the Contest are final.

    1.          By entering this Contest, entrants expressly acknowledge and agree that The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug motion picture (the 'Picture'), the title, treatment and any other characters, themes, plots, look and feel, designs, artwork, names, marks, and logos associated with or related to the Picture, and all derivatives of the foregoing, including without limitation, those portions of each entry submitted by entrants hereunder that are inspired by or derived from any of the foregoing, and all intellectual property rights embodied therein (collectively, the 'Hobbit Licensed Property') shall be and remain the soler and exclusive property of Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. ('WBEI'), The Saul Zaentz Company d/b/a Middle-earth Enterprises and/or its affiliates or third party licensors (other than Sponsor or the Contest entrants).  Entrants acknowledge and agree that they may use the Hobbit Licensed Property only for the purposes of inspiration to create and submit entries in accordance with these Official Rules.  Entrants will not acquire any rights or interests of any kind whatsoever in the Hobbit Licensed Property and ownership in entrant's submissions will always be subject to, and restricted by, WBEI's underlying rights in the Hobbit Licensed Property.

    2. By entering, entrants hereby grant Sponsor and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment ('WBHE') a non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free, fee-free license to use any and all submissions in any media now known or hereafter devised for any purposes whatsoever including but not limited to advertising, publicity and/or promotions of the Picture of any picture within The Hobbit  Trilogy, and/or WBHE; and entrant warrants and represents that (s)he has the unrestricted right to his or her submission and the submission does not infringe upon any third party's proprietary or other rights including copyrights and/or trademarks.  By entering, entrants also consent to the use of his or her name, city name, image and/or likeness for advertising or publicity purposes without additional compensation or permission, unless prohibited by law. No substitutions, transfers or cash redemptions of prizes can be made except by the Sponsor for a prize of equal or greater value, if prize is unavailable. Winners may be required to sign and return an affidavit of eligibility/release within 5 days of notification attempt or prize will be forfeited and alternate winner may be selected. 
    3. Void where prohibited or restricted by law. All federal, state and local laws apply.
    4. All contestants release and forever discharge TheOneRing.net and their respective employees, officers, directors, agents, owners, partners, affiliates and subsidiaries (collectively "Affiliates") from and against any and all liability and/or claims with the respect to or in any way arising from this Giveaway, participation in the Giveaway and acceptance or use of the prizes, including, without limitation, any liability for personal injury or property damage or loss. Contestants agree to defend, indemnify and hold the Affiliates harmless from any or against any and all liability and/or claims with respect to or arising from contestant’s acts or omissions in connection with participation in the Giveaway and use of any prizes.
    5. Employees of TheOneRing.net and other agents and family members living in the same household of each are not eligible.
    6. For names of winners, available at the conclusion of the Giveaway, please visit http://www.theonering.net.
    7. Delivery for the contest winner: Please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery. All prizes are non-transferable, with no cash redemptions and/or substitutions except at Sponsor’s sole discretion.
