  • NOTE: It is a requirement that all people who hire any of the QCA Galleries fill out a Risk Assessment form specific to the activities and circumstances surrounding the display and installation of artwork for exhibition.

    All questions marked with a red asterisk require an answer or response.

    If you have not yet booked and received confirmation of booking for any of the QCA Galleries, you will also need to fill in an exhibition proposal form.

  • Describe your exhibition either in the box below, or in an attached document.

    Include all components and potential hazards, including:

    • What you will be exhibiting exactly?
    • How will it be exhibited?
    • How many of each item?
    • Size of each item?
    • Weight of each item?
    • Security and safety of the artwork (could it fall?)
    • Hanging materials?
    • Scope of the exhibition?

    The clearer you are and the more detail you provide, the more likely your risk assessment will be approved. You may type details in the text box OR upload exhibition details in a seperate document.

  • You are required to complete your Health and Safety online inductions as part of the Risk Assessment process.

    Students need to complete:

    - Basic workplace health and safety

    - Annual fire safety instruction

    - Manual handling

  • External exhibitors must undergo a Health & Safety induction with the Galleries Coordinator.

  • Volunteers

  • If you intend to use external volunteers to assist with your exhibition, it is essential that they fill out a volunteer registration/indemnity form. An external volunteer is anyone who is not a Griffith University staff or student.

  • Opening night / Liquor

  • Please note that all food served at opening events needs to come from a licensed provider.

  • If you intend to serve alcohol at your exhibition opening, please refer to the:

    - QCA Galleries Application and Documents page.

    In the box below, identify any potential hazards associated with serving food and/or alcohol at an event. Include all components and potential hazards, including:

    • Spillage of any items
    • Appropriate cleaning materials
    • Injury or illness due to food or drink
    • Type of food or drink

    The clearer you are and the more detail you provide, the more likely your risk assessment will be approved.

    Note: A hazard is anything with the potential to cause harm/damage e.g. use/storage of food items/biological material/perishables etc associated with the exhibition.

  • 1. Installation of artwork

  • Note: A hazard is something with the potential to cause harm/damage e.g. use of ladders for installation of works/lighting/wires/walls/supports etc; manual handling/lifting/moving of equipment & artworks; use of all types of electrical equipment, cords, wires, water, chemicals etc associated with installations & artworks, use/storage of food items/biological material/perishables etc associated with the exhibition.

  • To minimise trip hazards in walkways and mess, spills & equipment damage in the studio from food or fluid or flame or art making materials, please agree to comply with the following:

  • PLEASE NOTE: Lighting of artwork is NOT to be done by students. Every QCA Galleries booking includes 1 hour of technical assistance.
