Please read directions carefully
Retreat Attendees:
For those of you who have not attended a Lt. Dan event in the past, basically it is two events in one. The core event is the week long retreat that takes place at the beautiful Palm Key retreat in the South Carolina Lowcountry. We are accepting applications now for somewhere between 25-30 couples to attend this week long healing event. Priority will be given to veterans and caregivers who have not attended an LDW event in the past. Applications will be accepted until July 1st. We hope to finalize the acceptance by July 15th.
This year's retreat will run from 14-21 September, 2014. The theme this year is "The Art of Healing." Along with the opportunity to relax and bond with your fellow veterans and caregivers, we will be offering a vast array of workshops and activities dealing with different kinds of art, (painting, photography, writing, music etc.). If you have an inclination towards the arts (of any kind) please tell us a little bit about it in the comments section at the end of this form. Even if you do not have an artistic background but the idea appeals to you, go ahead and apply. You may be surprised by the healing power that comes from doing something simple like creating a vase on a potters wheel.
Attendees will be responsible for arranging your own travel to Palm Key and must arrive no later than 09/14, but you will be reimbursed once you arrive, either for the amount that you spent on airline tickets or at the government rate for mileage for medical or healing events of 23.5 cents/mile. Once you arrive at Palm Key, everything is covered. The attendees will remain at Palm Key until the morning of 19 Sept and then will convoy up to Charleston for the weekend event which will take place on 19 and 20 Sept. and consist of an open party on the Charleston Riverfront on Friday and culminate with the Gary Sinise and the Lt Dan Band concert on Saturday evening at the Charleston Coliseum.
Weekend Attendees:
Due to the phenomenal year that we have had, thanks to Bill O’Reilly’s support, we are offering to cover the hotel room for two nights (Sept 19-20th) in the event that you cannot attend the full retreat. We are currently working on a hotel large enough to host up to 300 people. We will also provide a pair of concert tickets for the Veteran VIP section and pre-concert party for these weekend guests. Meals, transportation and other incidentals will be the responsibility of these "Weekend" attendees.
PLEASE NOTE that due to very limited space, during the Charleston weekend, we will only providing accommodations to our week-long retreat attendees, and will give priority to our ALL TERRAIN CHAIR recipients. We still want everyone to apply and will provide lodging until we run out of rooms at the North Charleston Embassy Suites. We are currently working on sourcing other Charleston Hotels willing to offer a special "Veteran’s Rate" for this special weekend. Please make sure to provide us with ACCURATE information about you and we will contact you by email once the Independence Fund team has taken a look at all the applications. Final decisions will be made on attendees in mid-July. We look forward to seeing you in September and are looking forward to having the best Lt. Dan event yet.
-THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!-
