About Being a Board Member

Board members are volunteers. They serve as the fiduciaries who steer the organization towards a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies, as well as by making sure the nonprofit has adequate resources to advance its mission.

We look for certain skills, perspectives, experiences, community connections, and relationships that help us build a well-rounded board. Board members attend monthly meetings, an annual retreat, and serve on at least one committee. There is a minimum financial commitment of $100/month.

It is a one to three month process to become a Story District Board member. Meet our current board members.
