Adopting from our Training Program
After your adoption application has been approved, a phone call with the training manager will be the first step. Please tell us about your previous horse experience, skill set, where you might need some coaching, and what you are looking for in a horse. This will help us determine if we have a horse that will be a good fit for you. Next, we will set up a time for you to meet us and the horse you are interested in. This will be a chance for you to see what the horse has been learning while in the training program and will help you get a better idea about its behavior and personality. Feel free to ask any questions that you may have about the horse and our training methods and start to get a good idea of the foundation that the horse has achieved. If the horse appears to be a potentially good match, then we will schedule at least three mandatory teaching sessions with you and the training manager. These sessions will help guide your understanding of what will help you and the horse continue to learn and grow into a confident and safe lifelong partnership. Please know that safe and dependable horses come from years of consistent, quality education and positive experiences. Rescue horses often come with layers of unfortunate memories, which can affect their ability to learn and trust. We do our very best to navigate accordingly, and that process is never fast. Keep in mind that many of the horses you will meet at Hope for Horses have only been with us for a few months. Thank you for considering rescuing a horse in need and know that each path is unique. With dedication and patience, you will be able to build a rewarding relationship with your new equine partner.
Have you ever been convicted of inhumane treatment to any of kind animal.
