  • Why?

    Proverbs 22:6
"Start your children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it."

    Deuteronomy 6:4-9
"Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates."

An infant dedication is declaring a promise before God and His church that as parents we will raise our child(ren) in God's nurture and admonition. Not only are the parents making a covenant before God and the church but the church is also declaring its covenant with the child(ren) that is being dedicated.

  • What? | Traditional "Dol" Ceremony

A Korean tradition that celebrates the first birthday. This ceremony is intended to bless the child(ren) with a long life and prosperous future. In the past, the Dol ceremony was a milestone for the parents and the children due to the high death rates for infants. Today, we uphold this Korean tradition by celebrating the first birthday with family and friends.

    1. Usually this service is customized per occasion.
    2. The service highlights prophetic prayer. There will be a time designated for the pastor to pray for the child(ren) and receive prophetic prayer.

For more on prophetic prayer, please listen to the Song of Life Sermon ("I Have Been Forgiven Enough to Forgive You," beginning 39:23).

  • Prayer of Proclamation & Blessing

During the dedication, after the dedicational vows, we will be having each family pray a prayer of proclamation and blessing over their child. This prayer is your dream for your child and what you envision for your child's future and/or it could be based on scripture.

For example, a prayer for wisdom based on PROVERBS 4:7 “WISDOM IS SUPREME; THEREFORE GET WISDOM. THOUGH IT COST ALL YOU HAVE, GET UNDERSTANDING.”
Child, I pray for great wisdom in your life. That you would know the Word of God, know how to handle it and use it, always respecting and obeying God’s Way above all other ways. I pray for deep friendship with God through the fear of the Lord in your heart.

A prayer for vision based on PROVERBS 29: 18 - “IF PEOPLE CAN'T SEE WHAT GOD IS DOING, THEY STUMBLE ALL OVER THEMSELVES; BUT WHEN THEY ATTEND TO WHAT HE REVEALS, THEY ARE MOST BLESSED.”
Child, I pray for vision. Vision rooted deeply in the values, the teachings, of Christ. I pray that God releases his vision, that it will be both clear and desirable. And that all things you pursue will bring Glory to Jesus Christ in your time and great satisfaction in your heart.
