Dear LIT parents,
The Liberty Lake Leaders in Training will be traveling to Roosevelt Scout Reservation, a Boy Scout Camp located in Elmer, NJ for our summer sleep-over experience!
Here is an overview of our trip:
We will be leaving Liberty Lake at 9:30 on Sunday July 31th. Our trip to Camp Roosevelt will take about one and a half hours. Please do not be late for camp !! We will be bringing our lunch to camp and will have coolers on the bus to store them until we get there.
We will be leaving Camp Roosevelt at about 4:30pm on Monday, August 1st and anticipate returning to Liberty Lake by 6:00 pm. All LITs must be picked up by 6:00pm on Monday, August 1st. Please let us know in advance about any car pool arrangements.
The following Liberty Lake Team Members will be attending: Teen Leadership Director, Terri Southerland, LIT Division Leader Nate Potts, and LIT Teen Leadership Coordiantors Danielle Davis and Paul Duffy.
Roosevelt’s experienced staff are ready to provide our LITs with a terrific two day program including exciting opportunities for Rifle Shooting, Knife and Axe Throw, boating, high and low ropes challenge courses, and much more!!
We will be bringing lunch with us on Sunday but then all meals will be provided by Camp Roosevelt (Sunday Dinner, Breakfast and Lunch on Monday).
Camp Roosevelt has a medical staff on duty 24 hours a day in case any medical situations arise.
Girls and boys will be staying in two different campsites. Girls will be staying in platform tents (2 girls to a tent) with the LLDC female staff at one campsite. Boys will be staying in platform tents (2 boys to a tent) with LLDC male staff at a separate campsite. The pool facility has 2 modern shower houses for males and females with hot showers and flush toilets etc.
LITs are not allowed to bring any electronic devices, including cell phones. Any electronics found on the trip will be taken by Liberty Lake Staff and will be returned to parents on Friday night at pick-up.
All Liberty Lake rules and regulations are in effect during this trip-Please, see the attached policy agreement.
We strongly suggest packing LIGHTLY- only bringing what is absolutely necessary.
Sleeping bag and/or blanket & sheet (the tents have cots in them)
Towel & Washcloth
Flip flops or showers shoes
2 sets of clothing- shorts, shirts (Teen Leadership shirts and nametags are required for both days), socks, underwear, sweatshirt, long pants, bathing suit, rain jacket and sneakers.
Toiletries- Travel Size- toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, soap, etc.
Refillable water bottle
Sunscreen, bugspray, flashlight
THINGS NOT TO PACK
- no electronics- including cell phones, iPods, curling irons, flat irons, blow dryers, etc.
Medical Forms and Medications- A Boy Scout Helth form (not requiring a doctor's signature) must be filled out for each LIT. Any day/night time prescription or over the counter medication to be administered on the trip must be sent in to out nurse by Thursday, July 28, 2016, accompanied by a permission to medicate form.
In order to grant your child permission to attend the trip, please complete the attached Trip Authorization Form. This form and BSA health form must be returned to the camp office no later than Tuesday, July 28th, 2016. All LITs that are enrolled for week 5 or 6 can attend the trip for no additional cost.
Those LITs that are enrolled for Week 6, but are not attending the trip, will be assigned to a camper group for Monday August 1st.
