The Saskatchewan Band Association is pleased to award annual scholarships of $300.00 each to graduating Grade 12 band students across Saskatchewan in memory of Bev Shore.
Beverley Ann Shore was born on April 1, 1960 in Regina, Saskatchewan. She received her elementary, high school and university education in Regina, graduating in 1985 with a Bachelor of Music Education Degree. She taught in Watrous, Deloraine, Manitoba and Yorkton. Beverley’s devotion to her students was second to none.
Beverley was very active in the Saskatchewan Band Community. She was an SBA Board Member and worked at several SBA Band Camps for over 20 years, always enjoying the opportunity to work with the students and staff. Beverley was also a valuable contributor to the local music festival scene and at the time of her death was President of the Yorkton Music Festival.
The SBA is pleased to award scholarships annually in honour of her memory. The number of scholarships awarded in a given year will be determined by the funds available and the quality of the applications received.
Criteria
The Beverley Shore Memorial Scholarships will be awarded to band program students graduating from Grade 12 who meet the following critiria:
- Is a resident of Saskatchewan and completing Grade 12
- Has been actively involved in their school's band program throughout their high school years
- Has demonstrated dedication to self-improvement on their instrument and leadership within their band program
- Has been active outside their school band program, e.g: attendance at Band Camps; participation in honour bands, local Community Bands/events, or music festivals etc.
- Has clear plans to continue their active involvement in band after graduation, e.g.: joining a Community Band, playing in a small ensemble, studying music at a post-secondary institution, volunteering as a support resource for their school's band program post graduation etc.
- Displays the qualities of Miss Shore, including generosity, compassion, love of music, and altruism.

- Fully complete the online application form below
- Include a short letter of recommendation from the applicant's high school band director, Community Band Director, Music Festival Coordinator or Band Parent Association Executive.
The SBA Awards committee will review all applications and choose the recipients.
Annual deadline for applications: March 15.
