Chabad on Campus Seed Grant - Head Shliach Application
  • Regional Shliach: Rohr Seed Grant Application

  • Dear Shliach,

Thank you for your interest in bringing a new couple on Shlichus to a university or college in your area!

Chabad on Campus International facilitates matching seed grants from the Rohr Family Foundation and the Tabacinic Family Foundation for new campus Shuchim. Both the university and the prospective Shluchim for the new campus must be approved by the Chabad on Campus International Vaad to receive the matching seed grant.

The following is the process for obtaining a seed grant:

•Complete and submit the application below.

•The Chabad on Campus International Vaad will determine if the campus is eligible for the matching seed grant.

•Once approved, prospective Shluchim will need to complete an application. If the Head Shliach does not have prospective Shluchim for the campus, Chabad on Campus International can refer couples seeking campus Shlichus to the Head Shliach to be interviewed.

•Once the prospective couple has been approved by the Head Shliach, members of the Chabad on Campus Vaad will interview them and determine if they are eligible for the seed grant. The prospective Shluchim are also required to submit personality assessment tests, visit the campus they are looking to go on Shlichus to, visit two similar campuses for two days each and raise a minimum of $30,000 prior to moving on Shlichus.

•Once approved by the Vaad, the Head Shliach and new campus Shluchim will finalize an agreement. The Chabad on Campus International Vaad will need to review and approve the agreement on behalf of the Rohr Family Foundation.

•The new campus Shluchim will need to accept the terms of the matching seed grant.

Please review the application below thoroughly prior to starting to complete it. Once you have all of the required information please complete and submit it. Please note that this information gets sent to Mr. George Rohr.

The approval process for seed grant applications can take from a few weeks to a few months depending on numerous variables. To speed up the process, please be sure to complete all of the requirements listed above.

We will keep you informed as soon as we have any updates on the progress of your application.

We are always here to assist you. Feel free to reach out to Miriam Minsky at mminsky@chabadoncampus.org or 718-510-8181 ext. 120 with any questions.

INCOMPLETE FORMS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

  • I understand that:
I am applying for a matching seed grant for new Shluchim to establish a full‐service Chabad Student Center.
The principal focus of the Shluchim will be to serve the students, faculty, and alumni of the university.
The Shluchim will not become involved with the parent or other mosdos, etc. in a manner that may conflict – in time and effort – with his responsibilities to the students and faculty. Any change in this arrangement must be discussed with the Chabad on Campus Vaad.
As the "Shliach oseh Shliach" I understand that I am responsible for the Shluchim’s success and well-being. Thus, I will assist the prospective campus Shluchim in establishing himself at the university, including sharing any existing faculty and student relationships.
I will assist the prospective campus Shluchim financially, at a minimum of $5,000 annually for the first three years of the Shluchim’s appointment. This assistance can take the form of a direct grant, bonuses, perks and/or (preferably) by helping establish relationships between the campus Shluchim and local philanthropists.
Chabad on Campus International will administer semi-annual installments of the matching seed grant from the Rohr Family Foundation, typically for three years, as the terms of the grant are met. The amount is to be determined.
Chabad on Campus International will remain engaged with the campus Shliach providing logistical and mentoring assistance. We also have resources available should you have any issues that need mediation.
