  • Maryland 4-H Foundation
    Academic Scholarship Application
    for Academic Year 2023 - 2024
  • Each year scholarships are awarded to current 4-H members or alumni
    who will be enrolled at an accredited college, university,
    or post-secondary technical training program for the fall AND spring semesters of the upcoming academic year.
     
    Read and follow ALL directions and requirements as you apply. 
     
    Instructions:
    1. Visit the Maryland 4-H Foundation website, www.mymaryland4hfoundation.com, to review general eligibility requirements, application requirements, selection & award process
    2. Reference a pdf version of the application here to gather all necessary materials.
    3. Review the essay question and requirements in section D
    4. Download the charts needed for sections E, F & G. Do NOT "Request Edit Access". Under "File" select "Download" to access the charts.
    5. Complete the charts and essay. Save them to your computer.
    6. Complete the online application. Upload all required documents in the appropriate sections
    7. Review your application and submit by 11:59 p.m. on June 15, 2023.

    Late applications will not be considered.

    • June Curran Branthover Memorial Scholarship
    • Lansdale Pue Memorial Scholarship (minimum of 2 awarded)
    • Rippeon Family Scholarship
    • Victor T. Olds Memorial Scholarship (minimum of 4 awarded)

  • Section D: Essay

  • Write a press release for a school newspaper, website or other media outlet to entice youth to become involved in 4-H.

    Please limit the essay to one (1) page typed double spaced, Times New Roman font size 12. Upload Essay to online application.

  • Section E, F & G: Leadership, 4-H Project Involvement and Citizenship

  • Please download the charts to complete sections E, F & G.
    Charts MUST be in the requested format.
    You may attach more lines/pages as needed.
    Note: please see the examples provided at the top of each chart.
    Be sure to DELETE the example information.

    Section E: Leadership - Indicate any major Leadership roles you have held in 4-H or your community (Offices, Committees, Leadership Trips, etc.)

    Section F: 4-H Project Involvement - Describe at which levels (local/county, state, regional, national, or international) you participated or competed with your projects.

    Section G: Citizenship - List your citizenship projects and activities in 4-H and your community, including the years you served and the description and impact of your service (number of service hours and/or number of individuals reached).

  • It is the responsiblity of the applicant to ensure the letter of recommendation is received by the Maryland 4-H Foundation before the June 15th deadline.

    Any applications without a corresponding letter of recommendation will be considered incomplete and will NOT be reviewed for a scholarship. 

    Only ONE letter of recommendation per applicant will be accepted; DO NOT submit more than one. If more than one letter is submitted; only the first will be considered part of the application, additional letters will not be reviewed.
