Job Description for MDYC Board of Trustees
Board Members must be a member of the Church of Christ, and no more than one parent or guardian of an individual in the organized company of singers shall serve as a Trustee at any one time.
Board Members are expected to attend monthly board meetings throughout the year.
Board Members are expected to participate in the interviewing and selection of the new chorus members each fall. Try-outs are held early in September at the Royal Oak Church of Christ.
Board Members are expected to attend and chaperone weekly chorus practices and performances. Their supervisory role includes the enforcement of guidelines, “crowd” control, and monitoring behavior on and off the risers.
Board members are expected to attend and act as chaperones at chorus functions.
Board Members are expected to attend the fall camp held at Michigan Christian Youth Camp a fall day camp traditionally held at the Royal Oak Church of Christ and a winter day camp traditionally held at the Lake Orion Church of Christ.
Board Members are expected to serve on committees that will organize and perform the various duties needed, such as; fund-raisers, first aid, sound, banquet, risers, directory/picture board, music folders, junior board, attendance, camps, uniforms, tour director, discipline committee, director liaison, concert schedule, auditions, sales table, memory book, devotional, concert directions, CD/tape recording, group picture, and guidelines.
Board Members are expected to accompany the chorus on spring tour and to perform various duties while on tour.
Board Members are assigned chorus members and are responsible for taking attendance of those members and making calls to those members when the need for communication of information to the members is necessary.
