The Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education (AEOE)’s Spring 2019 Photo Contest begins now and ends March 28, 2019 at 9:59 PM Pacific Standard Time (PST). By submitting an entry, each contestant agrees to the rules of the contest and states that they are 18 years old or older.
Entries must be uploaded by 9:59 pm, March 24, 2019, Late entries will not be accepted.
Who may enter:
Photographers who are 18 years old or older and AEOE Members.
What to enter:
Up to 2 photos that meet your interpretation of the Conference theme, “Teaching Inside the Box”. Cropped photos are eligible in all categories. We accept digital photos via the AEOE website. Minor adjustments, including spotting, dodging and burning, sharpening, contrast and slight color adjustment or the digital equivalents, are acceptable for all categories. If the judges determine that a photographer has altered his or her photo, they reserve the right to move the photo to disqualify it.
Please limit your subjects to the following:
-Awesome nature scenes
-Wildlife
-People: Only your own image, or likeness of yourself in action (selfie)
For a photo in which a person is recognizable, you must secure a model release from the subject or, in the case of a minor, the subject’s parent or guardian and provide it to the AEOE upon request.
How to enter:
Please submit photographs and requested information on-line via Jotform. Also, bring a print of your photo to the conference. All photos must have dimensions no smaller than 8 inches by 10 inches and no larger than 11 inches by 14 inches. High quality scans of non-digital photographs are acceptable. Digital photographs should be taken at the highest resolution possible. Photographs must be in a .jpeg, .jpg, or .gif format. Files submitted may not be larger than 10 Mb.
By entering the contest, entrants grant the Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education (AEOE), and those authorized by AEOE, a royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual, non-exclusive license to display, distribute, reproduce and create derivative works of the entries, in whole or in part, in any media now existing or subsequently developed, for any educational, promotional, publicity, exhibition, archival, scholarly and all other standard AEOE purposes. Any photograph reproduced will include a photographer credit as feasible. AEOE will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such uses.
Voting: All photos meeting the guidelines listed above will be posted to an album on AEOE’s Facebook page on or before March 24, 2019. Voting will be based on the number of “likes” received of the Facebook winning photos will be announced at the Saturday night, Open Mic Program, of the Spring Conference, March 30, 2019.
Prizes: TBA (typically books, gift certificates, etc.). No cash prizes. One prize per person.
The contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law. AEOE reserves the right to cancel the contest or modify these rules at its discretion. In the event of a dispute regarding the winners, AEOE reserves the right to award or not award the prizes in its sole discretion. AEOE reserves the right to disqualify any entrant whose entry or conduct appears in any way to: inhibit the enjoyment of others; tamper with the competition; violate these rules; infringe on the rights of third parties; or act in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Decisions of the AEOE are final.
