A troop, service unit, or day camp that is changing signers on existing bank accounts uses this form to request that an authorization letter be sent to the bank.
Council Notice: Troops that need to change signers on a PNC or Chase bank account must close the account and open a new one at a different bank.
Preferred banks that offer FREE checking to Girl Scout Troops are:
- KeyBank
- Huntington
- FifthThird
While we understand that it might be an inconvenience, troops with a PNC or Chase troop bank account that need to change account signers must instead open a new account at another bank. Regretfully, a different bank is necessary because PNC and Chase Bank no longer provides an internal control structure that permits GSNEO to exercise effective oversight of Girl Scout troop accounts in a prudent manner. This represents a different way of doing business from all other banks in this area. Any costs incurred by troops changing their accounts from PNC or Chase to another bank (such as fees for printing new checks at a new bank) will be reimbursed by GSNEO. Troops are requested to send documentation of their costs to pkirik@gsneo.org. Once your new troop account is established and your newly assigned account number is sent by you to GSNEO, GSNEO will send the reimbursement electronically to your new bank account. Preferred banks offering free accounts to troop are Huntington, Fifth Third and Key Bank. In addition, virtually all other banks, savings banks, and credit unions meet GSNEO requirements and offer free accounts to Girl Scout Troops.
