Tangible Items: $500
All regulations regarding hall tangibles matching funds requests are subject to the RHA Bylaws (Article X, Sections 5 and 6) as summarized below. Who is eligible?
Only groups that hold seats on the RHA General Assembly and their official affiliates are eligible to receive funds from the RHA Committee on Budget.
If local representatives of the Department of Residence Life wish to request funds from RHA, they must do so through their hall's government or one of its caucuses.
Who is not eligible?
Any individual, any groups not included in the above statement.
How does one apply?
An online application is now available. Read these instructions and click "I Agree" at the bottom to apply.
The Chairperson of the Committee on Budget will then confirm the application and specify an interview time with the group's contact person and update the contact of the group's petition for funds.
Is there paper application?
No. Currently, this online form is the only way to apply for funding from RHA's Committee on Budget.
How does the Committee on Budget operate?
Weekly meetings are conducted on a first-come-first-serve, interview basis that will be in 15-minute increments.
The Committee on Budget's Chairperson oversees weekly meetings and the operation of the committee.
The Chief Financial Officer of RHA acts as an advisor to the Committee.
What are the stipulations to applying for funding?
A group may request funds up to $3,000 during Phase 2 and up to $2,000 during Phase 1 for a single event and no more than $4,000.00 for the whole year.
The Committee on Budget will have the power to grant money out of the RHA General Assembly discretionary fund without the direct approval of the General Assembly in amounts up to the current phase limits per program by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the committee members present.
Groups receiving funding from RHA are requested to report on the event within 3 RHA General Assembly meetings either by email or in person at an RHA meeting.
An organization may only petition once per year for the same program and only once per semester for any given program. Also, groups may petition no more than one semester in advance for any given program.
If the group requesting funds is required to hold a seat on RHA's General Assembly and has not attended their past two GA meetings and/or committee meetings, they are not eligible to receive funding until they do so.
Groups will not receive funding for:
Maintenance of an office, Purchase of alcoholic beverages and/or illegal substances, Fundraisers, Paying off financial loans or existing debts, Scholarships, or Donations
How does the Hall Tangibles Fund Work?
Groups applying for matching funds must MATCH the allocated funding up to $500, and if tangible item goes over price, the group must also cover any additional costs.
RHA will only grant a maximum of $500 during Phase 1 and up to $1,000 during Phase 2 as a matching fund.
What are the terms Phase 1 and Phase 2 referring to?
As changed in the 38th Session, the Committe on Budget is now able to allocate more funding for groups when the Committee has a certain amount of money available to it.
Phase 1 allows groups to request up to $2,000 for a single programming event, while Phase 2 allows groups to request up to $3,000 for a single programming event.
Phase 1 also allows groups to request up to $500 for tangible items, while Phase 2 allows up to $1,000 for requests.
Tangible Items requests require a maximum of $500 of matching funds from the group requesting funding, regardless of the phase.
