    Visually observe operation of the block for anything abnormal, look for signs of inadequate performance, corrosion, deformation, loose or missing components, deterioration, proper lubrication, visibal signs of external cracks, needs for adjustment

  • Hook Possible Deficiencies

    Excessive throat opening 15% bent or twisted more than 10 degrees, damaged hook latch, wear, chemical damage, worn hook bearing. Cracks (use dye penetrant, magnetic or other suitable detection method)

    Check that the hook moves freely in every allowed direction

    Check that the safety latch fucntions properly

  • Wire Ropes (Cables) Possible Deficiencies

    Check the wire rope visually for kinking, crushing, corrosion, broken wires, and broken strands

    Check visually that the wire rope lays in the grooves of the drum and in the rope sheaves

  • Pendant Control Possible Deficiencies

    Check pendant for cracks or other signs of wear in the housing, and for loose or broken buttons

    Verify that all pushbuttons and switches correspond to their intended functions and directions

    Check the operation of the emergency button

  • Hoist Possible Deficiencies

    Verify that the upper limit switches operate properly

    Verify that the lower limit switch operates properly

    Listen for abnormal noises
