I have reviewed Goose Creek CISD Board Policy FDA and FDB regarding Transfer Procedures and Guidelines. I understand a transfer can be revoked at any time for the reasons listing including space becoming a problem, concerns with attendance, academics, or discipline. I understand that transportation is my responsibility. This serves as the written transfer agreement.
Goose Creek CISD Administrative Guideline 6.11 states, "Since the 1986-87 school year, in-district transfer requests will be approved only if it is determined that extreme circumstances warrant an exception."
Parents seeking an in-district transfer for their child(ren) must complete the following information. A written rationale of the extreme circumstance(s) that exist(s) as the basis for this in-district transfer must be included.
The request will be reviewed by the Office of Student Services to determine if an extreme circumstance exists. Parent will be notified of the results of each request. Transfer request must be submitted annually.
Transportation will not be provided to students attending a school outside the attendance zone in which they reside.
With the exception of students enrolled in the GATE program, the brother/sister rule does not apply to in-district transfers.
Student transfers may be requested by the parent or person standing in parental relation to any student. Only one transfer will be granted per year. A completed application with supporting documents must be submitted within the designated timeline.
In approving transfers, the Superintendent or designee shall consider availability of space and instructional staff, the student's disciplinary history, and attendance records. The district will review annually which campuses will be open or closed for student transfers. If a campus becomes designated as a closed campus for transfers, students submitting a renewal application will be allowed to continue at that campus under provisions allowed by this policy.
District Criteria for a transfer:
To be eligible for a transfer a student must have the following:
-a 96% attendance rate
-fewer than 5 tardies in a semester
-a written rationale for the transfer request
-no In-school suspensions or Out of school suspensions
-no felony/criminal conviction
-parents must provide transportation to and from school
The Superintendent or their designee has the authority to revoke transfers. Transfer students shall follow all rules and regulations of the District, including, but not limited to, District policies and regulations, the Student Code of Conduct, and attendance requirements. Failure to fulfill any of these responsibilities may result in the immediate revocation of the transfer agreement.
