1. Value and Term of Internship
Winter semester of 13 weeks at 10 hours per week at Level 1 student salary. Work to be completed during second semester.
2. Student Eligibility
Must be a registered full time student in the third year of study or higher, in good academic standing, with the provisio that the student and/or faculty cannot use this internship as completion of an Honours degree requirement (thesis or major paper).
Must have demonstrated interest in research training and skills acquisition.
Preference will be given to students indicating their interest and intention to work in a research field in government, non-profit or industry upon graduation, or their intent to apply for graduate study upon completion of their degree at St Thomas University.
3. Supervisor Eligibility
Successful applicants must wait two years before re-applying (one award per three year period).
4. Learning/Research Experience
Preference will be given to applications that demonstrate innovative or creative ways of combining the learning/research experience.
5. Ethics
Approval from the STU Research Ethics Board is required before funds for research involving human participants are released.
6. Evaluation
Evaluation within one month of completion of the internship must be completed by both the student and the supervising professor which are to be submitted to the Office of Research Services. Evaluation form can be found on the Dr. Rosemary Clews Research Internship section of the Office of Research Services website.
7. Publishing competition results
Recipients' names and project titles may be placed on the research website and in the ORS Annual Report.
