Persona building is an exercise designed to help create targeted fictional representations of each of your ideal customer archetypes. Personas are based on a combination of demographic, psychographic, and behavioral data along with your real-world experience and educated speculation. Defining and understanding your personas is important for many aspects of your business, including marketing, sales, and support.

Write a quote that sums up how this persona might describe the problems your business solves and the role they play. Examples: "My HR team needs to find a better tool for employee evaluations," or, "I want to save money on technology purchases for my small business."
This is where you can bring out your inner actor, step into the shoes of your customers.

Interests & Decision Making
Are there any particular hobbies, interests or other so-called “random affinities” that are common among people who fit this persona? Social media profiles can be a great source of clues for this one.
Examples: Many marketers are interested in photography and many cyclists watch Adult Swim cartoons.
Where does this persona turn for news and information relevant to your business or industry?
e.g. forums, blogs, reviews, industry publications, word of mouth, social
What do people fitting this persona value most?
Examples: money, time, possessions, status, etc.
What are their goals, personal and/or professional?
What barriers do they face in reaching their goals?

How You Help
How does your business solve this persona’s specific challenges?
What objections might this persona raise during the sales process? What is keeping them from closing right now?
Last but not least, write a short message or elevator pitch that sums up how you would describe your business to this persona.
e.g. What is you story? Why is it special? Why should your customer care?
